Turning Heartbeats into Lullabies

About Aurora

As an OB/GYN, I spent years witnessing the natural rhythm of labor—the synchrony between a baby’s heartbeat, maternal heart rate, and contractions. I imagined transforming these natural patterns into music. After years of research, coding, and sound design, Aurora was born—a unique system that turns fetal heart rate (FHR) tracings into personalized white noise lullabies.

The Science Behind It

Studies show that newborns find comfort in **womb-like sounds**. The rhythmic patterns of maternal heartbeat and amniotic fluid noise mimic the in-utero environment, triggering a natural calming reflex in babies. Aurora captures these patterns and transforms them into a unique soundscape, helping newborns sleep, bond, and feel secure.

How It Works

Aurora converts a **20-minute segment of FHR data** into a custom lullaby using gentle musical instruments like harp, piano, and string ensembles. This sound is embedded into a soft crib pillow, playing a familiar, soothing melody to help babies feel safe and relaxed.
